Hotel Kronsberger Hof – a lot of tradition still alive
As early as 1903 the Kronsberg miller opened a public house in his mill, because one of the main roads to Hannover went by this place, making many a horseman, passenger or walker-by happy to put a stop in here.

One of those numerous passer-bys was the poet Hermann Loens (famed from his region: the Lüneburger Heide ), who at the time had a love affair with a lady from Müllingen Village, just 15 km outside Hannover (at that time).

He enjoyed the new public house so much, he even wrote an article about it in the Hannoverscher Anzeiger (today : Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung)

Actually, the tradition of our house dates even further back ...
The Kronsberg miller ran a special kind of windmill (Bock-Windmühle), dating back to the year 1576(!), when it first went into operation. In 1826 he got the permission to build a combined house and warehouse close to the mill.
And still today, exactly this building is the central part of our hotel. In here are the restaurant rooms „Jägerzimmer“ (hunter’s lodge) and „Bauernstube“ (farmer’s lodge), the waiters office and one of the hotel’s apartments.

Muehle202In the years 1874, 1881 and 1907 three Imperial reviews took place on the Kronsberg as well as army maneuvers. Both Emperors Wilhelm I and Wilhelm II held these reviews personally on these fields ideally suited for that task . The maneuvers always began in September when the fields were bare, and as contemporary drawings show the goal was the taking of the Kronsberg mill. As a reminder of that time an obelisk was placed right behind the hotel building at the Wasseler Strasse.

Since 1955 the Krull family owns the hotel. In this year Carl Krull, owner of a slaughterhouse, bought the estate with the intention of turning it into a hotel and restaurant business. He was supported by his wife Luise.

With Karl Krull, the son and a butcher, too, and his wife Margret the second generation soon also brought support, taking over in 1961 after the death of Krull senior.

A widely known gastronomic enterprise developed in the following years. Considerable rebuilding took place in the sixties and seventies : the restaurant was built anew, first and second phase of rebuilding the hotel as well as the construction of a bowling center containing four bowling alleys (German bowling = kegeln).
familie05In 1988 the third generation took over: civil engineer Karl Krull and since 1991 also his wife Kathrin, professional hotel manager and foreign correspondent.
Together they form a top team, because their different professional background ideally meets the reqirements of a modern-day hotel.
The following years again were filled with massive building activities. Another hotel annex was built, a bar, different conference and banquet rooms as well as a wellness area containing sauna, solarium and fitness room.
And the fourth generation is ready to continue the family tradition: Carina, Karl Kristian and Johannes.
